The WIZE TURNING TOOL SYSTEM features a suite of specialised carbide insert woodturning tool sets for turning professionals and enthusiasts.
Our revolutionary handle and collet system are totally compatible with any unhandled turning tool on the market. Further, WIZE TOOLS can produce any collet to suit those tools which have non-standard shapes and sizes. In addition to the conventional scrapers, roughing gouges and bowl gouges, we have been asked to provide collets for a wide range of tools including home-made tools, lamp augers and the like. All our collets, shafts, parting tool and inserts are compatible with the BlackLine system.
PICO SET
Compact set with all 4 inserts mounted on an 8mm shaft with a fixed handle.
Ideal for pen turning, mini lathe and detailed work.
MICRO SET
Perfect for mid-range lathes. Features a collet-based 200mm long handle with two 8mm double-ended shafts, a parting tool, and separate collets. This provides two shafts with four inserts. There is a set of collets available to accommodate 12mm shafts and other manufacturers’ tools.
MEGA SET
Designed for larger projects. Robust system with two 12mm double ended shafts and larger handle for comfort, including a parting tool and necessary collets. Each shaft end is machined with a 3-way flattened section. There is a flat end for conventional application and a 45-degree section on each side to hold the shaft for shear cutting purposes.
GIGA SET
Tailored for extra-large projects. Features a sturdy 16mm shaft and extra-long handle. Includes a large ‘W’ insert and a small (10mm) Round insert for deep hollowing and shaping. The shaft end where the W insert is attached, includes a three-way machined surface. This allows for holding the W insert at different anglesto achieve the desired finished quality.
Pico Finishing Shear Scraper
Designed as a finishing tool which can access complex shaped workpieces. This unique tool is fitted with a large ‘W’ carbide insert, fitted to a 12mm shaft and attached to a specially adapted Pico handle. Designed for prolonged sharpness and efficiency in fine wood removal. Overall, carbide insert tools offer efficiency, low maintenance, and excellent results —an essential addition to any woodturner’s toolkit.
Finishing Shear Scraper Shaft
Designed as a finishing tool which can access complex shaped workpieces. This unique tool is fitted with a large ‘W’ insert, fitted to a 12mm shaft. The Shear scraper can be fitted to any of our handles Micro, Mega, or Giga handles using our 12mm collet. Designed for prolonged sharpness and efficiency in fine wood removal.
Swan Neck Hollower
The Swan Neck Hollowing and Finishing System is not just another hollowing tool; it’s a complete solution. With the ability to switch between our specialised micro round insert and the unique micro-W insert, you can effortlessly transition from material removal to achieving stunning finishes, all with the same tool.
Parting Tool
Our unique parting tool is a vital component in the woodturning toolkit and is included in each double-ended tool suite. The double-ended design and slightly wider insert eliminates binding, minimizing cut width and enhancing performance. It is ideal for cutting grooves, beads, and other shapes, with a narrow, straight blade for efficient, accurate cuts, crucial for creating tenons, grooves, and defining shapes.
